द्वादश ज्योतिर्लिंग में से एक भीमाशंकर की आराधना के लिए शिव भक्त  महाराष्ट्र के पुणे नगर में स्थित मानकर उनके दर्शन और आराधना करने वहीं जाते हैं। जबकि भीमाशंकर के महाराष्ट्र में होने पर असम के लोग सवाल उठाते  हैं। इनका कहना है कि महाराष्ट्र में स्थित ‍ भीमाशंकर वास्तविक ज्योतिर्लिंग नहीं है।

To worship Bhimashankar, one of the Dwadash Jyotirlingas, Shiva devotees believe that they are located in Pune city of Maharashtra and go there to worship and worship him. While Bhimashankar is in Maharashtra, people of Assam raise questions. They say that Bhimashankar located in Maharashtra is not a real Jyotirlinga.

ज्योतिर्लिंगों की अधिकृत जानकारी के लिए शिवपुराण का आश्रय लिया जाता है।  जबकि असम के गुवाहाटी के लोगों का मानना है कि भीमाशंकर महाराष्‍ट्र में नहीं बल्कि गुवाहाटी की पहाड़ियों में स्थित है।

Shivpuran is taken shelter for the authorized information of Jyotirlingas. While the people of Guwahati in Assam believe that Bhimashankar is not located in Maharashtra but in the hills of Guwahati.

इनका मानना है  कि असम के श्री शंकरदेव की वैष्णव भक्ति की आंधी के कारण शिवभक्ति का वेग यहां कम हुआ। इसलिए भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग पिछले कुछ सदियों से गुमनामी के अंधेरे में खो गए।

They believe that due to the storm of Vaishnava bhakti of Shri Shankaradev of Assam, the velocity of Shiv bhakti decreased here. Hence Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga got lost in the darkness of oblivion for the last few centuries.

इनका दर्शन पाना हो तो कामरूप के मनोहारी पर्वतों  और वनों के बीच चलते हुए वहां की निर्जन घाटी में पहुंच कर देखा जा सकता है कि भोलेनाथ अपने भव्य रूप में पहाड़ी नदी के बीच में किस तरह विराजे  हैं।

If they are to be seen, then walking through the picturesque mountains and forests of Kamrup can be seen reaching the uninhabited valley and see how Bholenath is enthroned in the middle of the mountain river in its grand form.

Real Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga

गुवाहाटी की  पहाड़ियों में जहां भीमाशंकर स्थित है वहां चौबीसों घंटे वहां उनका जल  से अभिषेक होता रहता है। वर्षा ऋतु में तो वे पूरी तरह नदी में डुबकी लगा लेते हैं। उनकी सेवा में जो पुजारी लगे हैं वे जनजातीय हैं। जो सैकड़ों वर्षों से भीमाशंकर महादेव की निष्ठा से चुपचाप पूजा-अर्चना करते रहते हैं।

Where Bhimashankar is located in the hills of Guwahati, he is anointed with water there round the clock. In the rainy season, they take a full dip in the river. The priests engaged in his service are tribal. Who silently worship Bhima Shankar Mahadev for hundreds of years.

यहां काशी से लेकर देशभर से संत और शिवभक्त आकर साधना करते हैं। शिवपुराण  में अध्याय 20 में श्लोक 1 से 20 तक और अ.21 में श्लोक 1 से 54 तक भीमाशंकर  ज्योतिर्लिंग के प्रादुर्भाव की कथा बताई गई है। जिसके अनुसार ये ज्योतिर्लिंग कामरूप राज्य के इन पर्वतों के बीच यहीं स्थापित हैं।

Here saints and Shiva devotees from Kashi all over the country come and do spiritual practice. In Shivpuran Chapters 20 to Verse 1 to 20 and A.21 to verses 1 to 54, the story of the birth of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is told. According to which these Jyotirlingas are established here among these mountains of Kamarupa state.

याद रहे असम का ही पुराना नाम कामरूप है। जैसा यह स्थान है वैसा ही वर्णन शिवपुराण में मिलता है। भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग के महाराष्ट्र में होने का वहां कोई उल्लेख नहीं है।

Remember, the old name of Assam is Kamroop. The description of this place is similar to that found in the Shiv Purana. There is no mention of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga being in Maharashtra.
